Lake George Community Comes Together

ABOUT LGC2T (Lake George Community Comes Together)
As a member of the Lake George community, each person will strive to become a respectful, responsible citizen with the ability to make healthy, lifetime decisions. Through the collaboration of all sectors of the community, each of us will show responsible stewardship of Lake George’s natural environment, as well as appreciation of our families and community.

Regular Planning Meeting: Last Monday of every month, 7-8 PM at Lake George Town Hall.
** Changes sometimes because of schedule conflicts, and during months of June through August. Call or email to verify meeting time.

GENERAL BACKGROUND ON LGC2T
Kate Hogan, District Attorney, was concerned about kids getting into trouble and not having things to do. She wanted to get communities in Warren County involved in community mobilization to help kids find better alternatives than activities that entangled them in the legal process. A program, entitled Communities That Care, came to her attention. Locally, the Council for Prevention began heading the effort to mobilize various communities in Warren County. There had been several alcohol related accidents and deaths in various communities, which gave urgency to these efforts.

A group was formed in 2002 to work on both a county-wide level, and within our own communities. LGC2T began with a meeting involving Lou Tessier (Town of LG Supervisor), Bob Blais (Village of LG Mayor), Bruce Levin (Superintendent of LG Schools), Dave Eagle (Principal of LG Jr./Sr. HS), and some community members. We did a survey of the students at the HS, a survey of the parents and teachers who came on a boat ride, and began meeting. Everyone is invited, and the group will be most effective if all parts of the community are involved: Church leadership and members, businesses and service organizations, youth, school teachers and staff and administration, families, taxpayers, in short: everyone in the community. We had to define what area the Lake George group would cover. The Lake George School District was defined as the area, because during the school months, the kids attending school form a very substantial part of our community.
